With Display Visions' EA DOG product line, we are presenting a range of displays specially designed for low-power handheld applications. At just 2mm thick, the displays come in ten different colours. Each is available in five different display technologies: transmissive, reflective, as blue negative STN, and as positive and negative FSTN.
The units run on 3.3V as standard and draw just 150 to 350µA. Optional LED lighting is also available and designed for 3.3V operation, with the brightest LED drawing 3mA. Separate backlighting is available in white, amber, blue, red, yellow/green and full colour, and is simply plugged into the display.
Customers can choose among text displays with 1x8, 2x16, 4x10 (switchable to double character height 2x10), 4x16 and 4x20 characters, and graphics displays with 102x64, 128x64, 160x104, 240x64 und 240x128 pixel resolution. External sizes measure between 39x41 and 94x67mm. Moreover, the individual displays support English, European and Cyrillic character sets in one display.
All displays in the EA DOG series feature an SPI interface. The text displays also come with a 4-/8-bit interface, and some displays are also available with I²C. The displays and additional lighting can be plugged directly to a PCB with 2.54mm pin spacing, avoiding additional assembly costs. The units also feature integrated temperature compensation, allowing an operating temperature range from -20 to +70°C.
