With the new ultracapacitors from SECH, we now supply three different types of long-lasting electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) and modules. The capacitors demonstrate very high energy density of up to 8Wh/kg and high matched impedance power density of up to 38kW/kg. This allows them to be operated efficiently with low losses even at high charge and discharge currents, and cooling can be reduced or even eliminated altogether. The SECH ultracapacitors are rated at 3 or 6VDC and have a modular construction. Available in capacitances from 1.5 to 360F, they allow up to one million charge and discharge cycles and operate very safely and reliably over a wide temperature range of -40 to +65°C. They also meet the specifications of ISO 16750-3 and SAE 2464, and are compliant with RoHS, REACH and UL810 environmental guidelines. The three SECH capacitor types available include solderable small cell ultracapacitors (C08S_ to C22S_), ultracapacitors with 35mm diameter and very low ESR (C35S_), and small cell ultracapacitors as a 6V module (M00S-006_).
Ultracapacitors are designed to absorb and dissipate power spikes and to store energy quickly, efficiently and without loss. They are often employed to replace or supplement a primary energy source such as a battery, internal combustion engine, or fuel cell, and can be used in a wide variety of applications, including in electric vehicle systems, for regenerative braking in hybrid vehicles, for propulsion support for railway vehicles, for backup power in wind turbines or UPS systems, for energy storage and peak load coverage in construction equipment, in the mains network, in renewable energy plants, etc. The SECH ultracapacitors EDLCs are now in stock at Schukat.
