ErP Guideline 2009/125/EC published

The new ErP Directive 2009/125/EC was published on 31 December 2009, expanding the scope of Directive 2005/32/EC, also known as EuP, which had been in effect since August 2006. The new ErP directive encompasses all of the energy-consuming products covered by the old EuP directive and now also includes energy-saving products, such as double glazing, taps and shower heads. The connection between the two guidelines can be found in Article 24 of ErP Directive 2009/125/EC.

The energy efficiency aspect of the new directive is extremely important and applies over the entire lifecycle of a product, from material to recycling or scrapping.
