Newly added to Schukat’s range is Schurter’s FXP enclosed-type fuse holder. Designed for high-power applications – i.e. with rated currents up to 25A and rated voltage of 500VAC (8W) according to IEC, or up to 45A at 600 VAC/VDC according to UL – the FXP fuse holder thus meets the forthcoming extension of IEC standard 60127-6 (increased fire protection requirements).
This high current compatibility in particular makes the FXP stand out for use in higher temperature environments. Standard conditions underlie both the IEC and the UL ratings: for fuse holders, this means +23°C according to IEC or +25°C according to UL. Above these temperatures, the capacity reduces as the temperature increases. The FXP fuse holder 3-141-376 from Schurter is designed for ambient temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, and can still handle maximum power of 4W at an ambient temperature of +50°C. Conventional fuse holders of a similar size only achieve comparable values at room temperature, thus demonstrating the FXP’s capacity for use at high operating temperatures.
With its snap-in mounting, the FXP fuse holder is quickly installed and ready to go. Its IP-40 protection rating primarily targets indoor use, including in equipment with three-phase power (400VAC) and applications with currents of up to 25A (VDE). On the connection side, solderable connections are provided, with solder heat resistance of 350°C for 10 seconds in accordance with IEC 60068-2-20
