Background

With the trend towards miniaturisation, less and less space is available on PCBs, and components have to be positioned closer and closer together. At the same time, the performance of the individual components, including the connection technology, should remain unchanged and function in harsh operating conditions.

Advantages of PCB connectors with lever

• Convenience: PCB connectors make field wiring particularly straightforward, with the lever technology providing tool-free operation - the connectors can be plugged in quickly and easily by hand, with nothing else needed. The lever keeps the connection point safely secured and the state of the wiring is visible at a glance.

• Safety: Most connectors offer one hundred percent protection from mismating, ensuring a high level of safety when making connections in the field, while an optional locking mechanism prevents accidental disconnection.

• Flexibility: When choosing a connection technology, developers often have to be able to deal flexibly with different PCB designs. To meet individual needs, many PCB connectors can be installed to allow either horizontal or vertical connection to the circuit board.

Where are these connectors used?

The components find application not only on circuit boards. The also offer decisive advantages for wire-to-wire connections, for example in control and switch cabinet containers. Here, the lever offers one-of-a-kind, tool-free connections, making wiring both at the factory and at the customer’s site easier, faster and safer. Some control and switch cabinet containers, after all, are so large that they have to be dismantled and shipped in sections.
