Schukat electronic celebrates its 60th anniversary From a one-man operation to a distributor with strategic added value |
Schukat electronic Vertriebs GmbH, distributor of electronic parts and components, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. What started as a one-man business when it was founded in 1964 by Hans-Georg Schukat in Monheim, is now a globally operating and financially independent company that is run by siblings Bert, Georg and Edith Schukat in the second generation. Schukat currently employs 170 people who look after around 10,000 B2B customers in Germany and around the world. Their expertise lies in providing support from the project approach to the mass product and in competent project planning and logistics support. With its active, passive electromechanical components as well as power supplies, customers are driving forward pioneering applications in the industrial electronics, automation technology, control technology, medical technology and automotive markets. |

It all began in 1964, when Hans-Georg Schukat, then a radio mechanic, started the exclusive distribution of Vidicon tubes from the USA to Siemens. Collaboration with various Japanese manufacturers began as early as 1970 and was soon followed by market leaders such as Sunon, HAWA, Mean Well, Panasonic and Recom. Today, Schukat maintains a long-standing partnership with over 250 manufacturers with competent development and logistics support, characterised by intensive exchange. Schukat also acts as a distributor for around 50,000 products, most of which are used in standard applications. In the 2023 financial year, Schukat generated a turnover of € 145 million (gross).
''We are proud of our 60th anniversary in the electronics industry,'' says Managing Director Bert Schukat. ''The fact that we continue to operate as an independent family business today confirms our company motto: standard quantities at reasonable prices from stock, volumes at customised conditions, products according to customer requirements and special logistics services.'' |

Technological change, globalisation, digital transformation and changing delivery conditions have posed significant challenges for distributors in recent years. In response, Schukat opened its digitalised logistics centre with 10,000 square metres in 2018. An integrated, fully automated small parts warehouse and modern shuttle technology achieve an almost threefold increase in the order processing speed (delivery within 24 hours), a high level of reliability and customer-specific stocking. The highlight in 2024 will be the provision of a new web shop with innovative features.
Schukat offers 100% full traceability from the customer to the manufacturer or upstream supplier for every item ever delivered. The company also shows its colours when it comes to sustainability and the environment: the ecological building management of the office and warehouse buildings reduces the company’s CO2 footprint, and Schukat has exclusively been using certified renewable electricity since 2008. This opens up a sustainable future for the company. Committed employee management and regular awards from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for 'outstanding achievements in vocational training' also stand for joint further development.
Schukat complements its open-minded approach to state-of-the-art technologies with traditional values when it comes to customer service: Consistency, reliability and fairness, with which the company has grown over the last 60 years, form the environment in which customers are advised by expert engineers on market developments and on the sophisticated products on the electronics market that require explanation.
"Schukat electronic would like to thank customers, suppliers and employees for 60 successful years. Without their support at all levels, we would not have been able to achieve such growth. We look forward to continuing to grow together with them in the future," says Bert Schukat.
