Schukat Receives Chamber of Commerce Prize for Training and Further Education

On 2 October, Schukat electronic received the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce Prize for Training and Further Education 2014 "for many years of successful commitment to vocational training, with consistently outstanding performance in the dual system of vocational education and training." The Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce has made this award for the last five years to training companies in the Düsseldorf district. The award honours special dedication to supporting young talent by companies "that have proven themselves to be particularly deserving through their training of young people."

Since 2010, Schukat has received "The Best" certificate from
the Chamber of Commerce four years in a row for "outstanding performance in vocational training," and in 2013, the German Federal Employment Agency awarded Schukat its certificate
"for exemplary training" and collaboration.

Edith Schukat, co-partner and authorised officer of the family company, accepted the award in Düsseldorf. "This is an honour for us and for our trainees," she said, "It reinforces our belief in our approach to training." As the head of human resources at Schukat for the past fifteen years, Edith Schukat has supervised almost 250 apprentices. Currently, Schukat electronic has around 140 employees and 32 apprentices training towards qualifications in the wholesale trade and office management fields, as well as in IT and warehouse logistics. Of the 75 current specialist and management staff in the commercial area, 45 are former apprentices. Around half of the new trainees in any year stay with the company, and some, following further studies parallel to their jobs, are now leading specialists or heads of department.

The award highlights Schukat electronic’s success in giving its apprentices a perfect start to their working lives through practice-oriented, technically sound training. For Edith Schukat, apprentices are an investment in the future: "They are one of the reasons for our success," she stresses.

An article on this award was published in the Rheinische Post
on 6 October 2014 (in German only).
