We have expanded our MEAN WELL power supply portfolio to include the LRS-100-N2 series switching power supplies with 100 watts of nominal power. The recently launched LRS-100-N2 series differentiates itself from the previous LRS series primarily in the short-duration provision of 200% peak power for up to 5 seconds, which mitigates the problems encountered in adapting to such short-term power demands as high start-up currents in electric motors. Customers no longer need to oversize the power supply unit by buying a device with higher rated power; instead, they need only size the power supply to the rated power combined with the short-duration peak power. This not only reduces power supply acquisition costs, but also helps solve the problems customers commonly face with their applications.
The different models offer output voltages of 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V, i.e. the voltages normally found in industrial systems. Mechanical dimensions are identical to those of the previous LRS series, allowing for straightforward replacement. Key parameters include: 100W output power, max. 50A inrush current, 85 – 264VAC (47 – 63Hz)/120 – 373VDC input voltage range, residual ripple of max. 200mVp-p, and an operating temperature range from -30°C to +70°C. The units achieve up to 90.5% efficiency.
In addition to its IEC/UL/EN 62386-1 certification, the MEAN WELL LRS-N2 series also meets EN standards 61558-1 and EN 61558-2-16 and is OVC III compliant – its numerous certifications speed up and simplify the certification process for the customer's end product. The LRS-100-N2 power supply finds application in a range of electronic and electromechanical devices, such as robotic arms, motor controls, coffee machines, emergency lighting systems, etc.
